Aire Waves

Leeds Canoe Club Blog. We paddle... lots!
Airewaves used to be Leeds Canoe Club's magazine letting people know what the club was upto. Its quite hard work pulling together a publication letting people know what the club is doing and publishing dates in advance is always hard as things tend to change. Step forth the blog.. Push button publishing for the masses. So here is the idea a few people in the club take it in turns to write up trips and talk about things in the club.

Wharfe AppleTreewick..

After the Wild Water Race on Saturday it was nice to actually get out paddling with the club as a club. So its 10am and the club has all made it up to Burnsall on the River Wharfe. Is a cold crisp morning and everyone is looking forward to getting on the river. I think there must have been about 24 of us. We all gathered around for a quick kit check to ensue that everyone was going to be warm on the day and for the trip to Llangollen in a few weeks. We split in to 2 groups and set off down the river. my group was second to leave. Its been a few years since I paddled the river and it didn't have a much water as it did today. We had a number of beginners on the river today, all who did really well. We had a few swims along the way but nothing major or out of the ordinary for a beginners trip.. When we got to Appletreewick falls the first group was there waiting for us. We all had a look at the falls and put on safety for everyone. Everyone got down ok wih only 1 swim.
