Aire Waves

Leeds Canoe Club Blog. We paddle... lots!
Airewaves used to be Leeds Canoe Club's magazine letting people know what the club was upto. Its quite hard work pulling together a publication letting people know what the club is doing and publishing dates in advance is always hard as things tend to change. Step forth the blog.. Push button publishing for the masses. So here is the idea a few people in the club take it in turns to write up trips and talk about things in the club.

canoe polo - march 2006

On saturday it was the last match for this season. We went into it with confidence after 10 wins out of 10 in our earlier matches.
1st game was a 4-1 victory over Kingston Kaos, with goals scored by Ian, Andy R, Curly and Paul
2nd game was yet another victory over the uni (though not as emphatic as previous wins!) with Paul and Ian scoring in the 2-1 win over Leeds Uni
3rd mach was a 0-0 draw with sheffield uni, which was slightly disappoining as we had beaten them twice before earlier in the season.
4th match was our first taste of defeat this season with Andy R scoring our concelation goal, after a quickly taken corner meant he was unmarked at the far post, in the 1-2 loss to Kinston Carnitors.
As sheffield uni had lossed 9-0 to the carnitors it meant that we would be ahead on goal difference in 2nd place if we won our final match over malton & norton. And we won it in style wit a 4-0 victory with goals from Andy R, Curly, Ian & Paul.
So second place in division 3 and promotion to division 2. so well done to this years polo team - Ian, Paul, Andy R, Curly, Sarah, James, Sam, Mick, Graeme, and Andy H.
Next season we're looking at entering 2 polo teams -1 in division 2 and 1 in division 3 - open to anyone who's interested.
