Leeds Canoe Club Blog. We paddle... lots!
Airewaves used to be Leeds Canoe Club's magazine letting people know what the club was upto. Its quite hard work pulling together a publication letting people know what the club is doing and publishing dates in advance is always hard as things tend to change. Step forth the blog.. Push button publishing for the masses. So here is the idea a few people in the club take it in turns to write up trips and talk about things in the club.
He may be wearing the latest in dry pants, but it didn't stop him getting wet this weekend.
Leeds and Liverpool canal, beginners trip.
Mick Liversidge swam.
Must have been some kind of turbulence near the bank? Perhaps a disruptive vole? A sudden and unexpected wave?
We still await a suitable excuse.

Alright, finally there was a bit of water around, so off we went paddling in the Lakes!
Nice little run (four hours, to be precise). A few remarkable moments to mention:
- A spraydeck left at home
- A nice little drop with a stopper just after the get-in - in fact, so nice that Andy H. decided to stay there after shooting it. Paul C. even had to insist on Andy leaving the stopper and threaten him with a rope ('Andy!!! Rope!!!')
- A rather spectacular demonstration of Three Different Ways To Get The Loop Falls Wrong done by the senior part of the group. While the reasonable part of the group was portaging the Falls, we've observed boats getting stuck straight, backwards and upside down. Paul C. has even shown an amazing jump from under the water onto the rocks (some people still claim they've heard him saying something like 'If a salmon can do it, I can'). Only Julian got it right, but he's using a pink spraydeck with a green boat.
- A nose scratched against the rocks in the Gorge section (or vise versa)
Otherwise a really nice relaxed trip!
